Wearing a Parka, Festival Style

My parka is my main in-between coat. It's not coat heavy but it's also not too light so it works in the in between season change. The thing is a parka does tend to make everything you wear it with look like you're off to a festival and being the last day of September, festivals are already a distant memory.

The boots and bag are both new. I love the contrast of the black lines on the white of the bag and the boots are almost the perfect ankle length for a cankle sufferer such as I.

The outfit as a whole could easily veer from summery to autumnal but I added a dark berry lipstick to make it more seasonal.

Gah, 9-5 job, the daylight is fading, back to weekend only photographing soon enough. Winter really is a ballache for blogging.

Feeling Blue

So I seem to have been wearing lots of blue lately, maybe it's because I'm not loving the change in temperature. Saying that, I'm just back from my last summer holiday to Turkey for five days, so now that's over I'm feeling more ready to start thinking about Christmas. In fact, I love the run up to Christmas; Halloween, Bonfire Night, all of December - you know the score.

I've also been loving the shit out of this necklace. I bought it in the sale at Accessorize ages ago and have just rediscovered it's charm.

I like a bit of shirt layering in the cold months but sometimes I feel like it's the only thing I do. It's just too easy to throw a jumper on and be out the door.

Blue Breton Stripes

I found this Breton t-shirt in H&M's sale years ago and have come close to getting rid of it before. I've come to my senses recently and realised it's a really staple piece in my wardrobe. Plus every time I wear it, people ask where it's from, so it's clearly a winner.

I layered the stripes over a denim dress and kept it all in place with a belt that magically appeared in my room once. The whole look is quite nautical, which wasn't really intended but blue and red always works a treat.

Have been loving the shit out of this gold necklace lately, it just works with everything.

Mini Skirt, Maxi Skirt

I know I keep banging on about the weather but it changed so quickly, it caught me off guard. These were also taken back when it didn't feel quite so Autumnal.

Basic cropped tees and tops were a new addition to my wardrobe this year and they were perfect for wearing with high waisted skirts. I like how you can so easily get two completely different looks with a simple white tee and a change of skirt (which may have happened on the roadside). The cropped tees are definitely going to continue appearing throughout AW, I'm not sure how yet but I feel there will be layering involved...

I am quite sad to be confining my neon green skirt to the summer wardrobe but I'm just not sure neon translates to autumn fashion. What do you think?

Last Days of Summer

Ah yes, remember when it was warm and we could wear sandals without getting wet toesies?

These photos were only taken a week or two ago and I have a feeling these were the last days of summer. I know we're well into September but I like to hold onto warm weather for as long as possible and I'm still holding out hope for an Indian summer. I think it's because we're off to Turkey for a few days next week so as yet, I still have a barrier between the end of the summer and Christmas. Once I'm back I promise I'll get all nostalgic for bonfire night and jumpers.

No really. I will.

This dress top thing was hanging up in my 'to eBay' pile for ages and then I had a change of heart and rescued it. I'm thinking it's actually quite a staple piece, yah.

Again, my new beloved Clubmaster Ray-ban's make an appearance. To be honest, I don't think they'll be going anywhere, they're too frickin' awesome.

Bubba Gump Shrimp

I am a total sucker for slogan t-shirts, I have to stop myself from buying them otherwise I'd live in a land made only of t-shirts.

Or something.

However, when I came out of the subway in Times Square and I laid eyes on the Bubba Gump Shrimp shop, there was no stopping me indulging in a little t-shirt goodness.

Forrest Gump is my all time favourite film and I spent a good while running off all the ways of eating shrimp Bubba style as I chose my new tee.

Another addition to my wardrobe whilst in New York was these bee-ute clubmaster Ray-ban's. I've toyed with the idea of investing in some Ray-ban's in the past but the price and the fact that Primark sell sunglasses for £1 stopped me. Luckily my birthday happened to be when we were out there, so James treated me. Happy face, indeed.

Fishtail Plait

They say black and brown should never go together. Well as you can see, I'm a maverick.

I kind of look at this outfit and think, 'Yeah, looking a bit French farm girl from the war.' I actually have no idea if this is accurate, it probably isn't.

I got this dress from ASOS in the sale ages ago for £15. I love it, love the back detail, love the length, love the material - it was quite simply, a magical buy. It's so easy to wear anytime and can be dressed up or down. Dress versatility is extremely important to me, trust me, you won't find me buying party dresses that can't also be worn in the day. The ONLY thing I haven't figured out is wearing it with tights but I can assure you, I'm working on it.

Fishtail braids are something I lean towards when my hair is bordering needing a wash. They're so easy but are just that little bit more special than your average Joe plait. Normal plaits can do one.

New York Photo Diary

Picture heavy post, its true but I had to cut it down from 1000 pictures and this is the best I could do. I always love looking at people's travel pictures and these are my very favourite ones from New York.

We got back just over two weeks ago and it already feels like a distant dream. It was one of the best holidays I've ever been on and I will definitely be back.

Have you been to New York? What was your highlight?
